Water is of essential importance for all organs of the animal as it is responsible for thermoregulation, absorption of nutrients, secretory function and the tissue growth. Note, water comprises 80% of newborn piglets’ body and 55% of a finishers’. The long absence of water may be fatal for animals. Even a slight dehydration can be a reason of worse feed intake, as well as its bad conversion, small daily gains, decrease of milk production in lactating sows and smaller weights of weaners. But the reasons of bad production date are looked for in feeds.
The prospects of the usage of cryogenically preserved semen
Almost twenty years ago most pig producers bought live boars for mating with sows. With the branch development that way paled into insignificance and in in terms of modern pig production artificial insemination is not a surprise to anyone. But pig producers are very cautious to cryogenically preserved semen usage. A group of Ukrainian pig producers visited a company Swine Genetics International in terms of training program Cochran Fellowship Program (USA). The company was the pioneer of cryogenically preserved semen technology and nowadays is the leading exporter of it to all parts of the world.
Adding rye to pigs ration is the real way to save money
Continuous decrease of margin makes pig producers all over the world study new ways to reduce the cost of production. It is quite natural that reserves are looked for in feeds, which are the main expenditure item. But while new protein and energy sources are being invented, we forget about rye which is well-known and efficient way to save money.

So called «pig belt» has laid out in Lower Saxony; there are more than 8 million of pigs within 100 km. According to one of the latest researches of United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) more than 15% of all culled sows are culled because of lameness every year. In this research lameness was stated the second main reason for culling after reproduction dysfunction.
