The delegation composed of 15 representatives of Estonian Pig Producers Association studied the features of Ukrainian pig production in May 2013 during the agricultural tour organized by RealTOURS.

Thus, the group started its exploration with a visit to State Enterprise «Danam Farms» as one of the industry leaders. During the meeting guests got to know how the husbandry with Danish investment entered Top-50 the best Ukrainian enterprises and owing to what technologies it became possible.

In addition, Estonian Pig Producers visited V International Congress «Profitable Pig Production» held on May 21. Being composed of several groups, the delegation managed to visit all sections and was impressed by the scale and information value of the event.

Taking into consideration the aim of the visit — establishing cooperation with Ukrainian pig producers as well as supply of Estonian breeds to Ukraine, guests met the representatives of the Association of Pig Producers of Ukraine, in particular its president Arthur Loza. They discussed common issues of pig production development in both countries and the possibility of cooperation. On the same day the delegation visited one of the largest agricultural exhibitions in Ukraine «Agro-2013» where it was interested in the exposition of pigs and boars of Ukrainian breeding farms.

Participation in the presentation of the new-build nucleus breeding farm JSC «Selection center of Pig Farming» was admitted by Estonians as the most interesting point of their trip. Meetings with the cooperative named after Schorsa and pig farm «Maryanivskyy» part of Cherkasy meat company became no less interesting and informative.

Being impressed by what they saw and hospitality of Ukrainians, Estonians invited the representative of the Association of Pig Producers of Ukraine to make a goodwill visit to Estonia next year.

Tour organizers are grateful to everyone who supported them and assisted in arranging meeting, especially pig farm manager of SE «Danam Farms» Yeppe Jorgensen, chief technologist of «Selective Pig Breeding center» Oleg Vlasenko, Mykola Vlasenko — head of cooperative named after Schorsa, deputy director of livestock and pig farm «Maryanivskyy» Natalia Aribdzhanovf and deputy head Oleksandr Sharpatiy.
